WORKING PAPER

A draft study of Britain’s 2017 gender-pay-gap reporting mandate found an implied departure rate near 15.4% for women versus 14% for men—a 1.4-percentage-point gap the paper describes as about 10%. Departures concentrated among lower-paid, lower-skilled women in non-managerial jobs; the researchers found no increase in women’s hiring or promotions, and women who left tended to enter lower-paying occupations.
