White House dismissed AI safety warnings as a Democratic midterm ploy

Attorney General Todd Blanche and Speaker Mike Johnson blamed party panic. The warnings, though, came from inside the industry first — Anthropic chief Dario Amodei proposed slowing frontier AI on Sept. 13.
