U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue said Sunday, Sept. 27, that Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping whether China wanted to buy American weapons. The administration then said it has no plans to sell arms to China. Perdue also said U.S. policy on Taiwan is unchanged after Xi's Washington visit.
Where it stands. As of Sept. 23, senators were still asking Trump to formally submit the Taiwan package to Congress. No notification deadline has been published.
