Biden’s ghostwriter tapes reveal discussions of possibly classified notes
The 2016–17 memoir recordings—not Biden’s later interview with special counsel Robert Hur—became evidence in Hur’s classified-documents investigation.
Roughly 70 hours of Biden’s private interviews with memoir ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer exist; more than two hours have been released. In excerpts, Biden cautions that some notebook material “may be classified” and says he found “all the classified stuff downstairs.” Hur cited the recordings but declined charges because investigators said they could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Biden willfully retained or disclosed classified material. No classified material was alleged to have appeared in the published book.
