[UPDATE] ShinyHunters says stolen FBI data includes agents' psychiatric records, threatens release in 4 days
The FBI still cannot say whether the breach hit a contractor or its own systems.
ShinyHunters says it will publish stolen FBI data in four days unless its demands are met. The group says the files hold psychiatric records, fitness-for-work exams and blood and urine test results for thousands of special agents. It says it got in through the FBIJobs.gov hiring portal. The FBI says it has not yet found where the breach happened.

On Sep. 24, ShinyHunters claimed it stole private data on about 38,000 FBI employees and job applicants. The FBI opened an investigation.
- 5,000 alleged FBI officials were on a list the group shared with 404 Media.
- FBIJobs.gov has been the FBI's main job-application site since 2017.
- The group says it breached the site on Monday, Sept. 21; the FBI acknowledged the breach on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
