Vance plans to cancel ACA coverage for nearly 760,000 people he says are likely fraudulently enrolled
This comes after marketplace enrollment already fell by about 3 million when enhanced tax credits expired.
Vance claims the move saves money and says about 419,000 of those people will get extra residency and income checks. KFF's Larry Levitt says marketplace fraud comes mainly from rogue insurance brokers, not enrollees.
The marketplace this year:
- ACA marketplace enrollment fell by roughly 3 million after enhanced federal tax credits expired.
- PBS NewsHour puts the average premium payment increase for many enrollees at 114%.
- Levitt says brokers sign people up against their will or coach them to misstate their income.
