Nine states will vote on new House maps, and Republicans could net up to 9 seats, ABC News says

Nine states will vote on new House districts on Nov. 3. ABC News says Republicans could net up to nine seats if every map works as designed, and that a good Democratic year could cut that. Missouri is not on the list: on Friday, Sept. 25, the Supreme Court kept its 2022 map in place for this election. Missouri voters decide on the new Republican map in November, for 2028. Trump's mid-decade push began in Texas, whose map was enacted Aug. 29, 2025.

States using new House maps:

• Favor Republicans: Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Alabama, where the Supreme Court restored the Legislature's 2023 map in June
• Do not favor Republicans: California, Utah (map ordered by a court, not drawn by lawmakers)
