Federal grand jury subpoenas L.A. County election officials; DHS voter-fraud hunt has 160 arrests nationwide

A federal grand jury has sent L.A. County election officials several subpoenas, the Los Angeles Times reports; it did not say what the probe covers or who opened it. The Times also reports that DHS has pursued 1,600 voter-fraud cases nationwide since January 2025, leading to 160 arrests.

Can states now purge rolls with the SAVE tool

• Sept. 25: in a separate case, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to let states use the DHS SAVE citizenship system.
• The National Voter Registration Act bars most mass voter-roll purges in the 90 days before an election. For the Nov. 3 midterms, that window opened in early August, so it already limits SAVE purges this year.
