Supreme Court declines to stay Christa Pike's execution, Tennessee's first of a woman in 200+ years

Pike, now 50, was 18 when she and her boyfriend murdered classmate Colleen Slemmer in 1995, and the Court acted a day after Bill Lee (Gov-R Tennessee) denied clemency.

• Her lawyers argued "an 18-year-old brain is not an adult brain, and 18 is too young to face execution."
• The U.S. has executed 18 women since the 1970s, compared with 1,663 men.
