Google will not have to sell its ad tech business. Judge Leonie Brinkema, who ruled in April 2025 that the company illegally monopolized ad tech by building AdX and tying it to its ad server, turned down the Justice Department's request for a sale. She ordered changes to Google's conduct instead. Her full opinion is sealed for now so both sides can redact sensitive material.
- Google regulatory-affairs chief Lee-Anne Mulholland said the company was "very pleased the Court rejected the DOJ's proposal to break apart tools that help small businesses reach new customers and grow."
- The Justice Department said it was "one step closer to restoring competition" and is evaluating next steps.
