Republican criticism of Hegseth has widened past Driscoll's exit. Thom Tillis (Sen-R North Carolina) asked Trump to replace Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after Army Secretary Dan Driscoll quit. House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Alabama) said he is "tired of all the churn." The Army now has no Senate-confirmed civilian secretary and no military chief of staff while the U.S. fights Iran.

Sep. 1 — Driscoll resigned after 18 months, following repeated clashes with Hegseth. He is the fourth senior service leader out in recent months.
