A Russian jet-propelled drone hit the locomotive of a Kyiv-to-Warsaw passenger train at Yahodyn station on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1.2 miles from Poland. The operator detected the drone and evacuated the train 15 minutes before impact; no one was hurt. A diplomatic train carrying Boris Johnson and UK national security adviser Jonathan Powell had left minutes earlier. Former CIA director David Petraeus was on another train at the station.
- Poland's Donald Tusk counted 13 drone strikes near the border that night, including a filling-station fire that hurt two drivers. More than 600 people were evacuated from two crossings.
- The railway counted 72 Russian attacks on its infrastructure in August-November 2025, then 127 from December to mid-May 2026 (Kyiv Independent). Cumulative damage through the first quarter: 209 locomotives, 239 carriages, 86 bridges, 50 stations.
