U.S. and Japan intervene to strengthen the yen after a 40-year low
The coordinated move pulled the dollar below ¥156 after it traded above ¥163.
Japan’s Finance Ministry bought yen in coordination with the U.S. Treasury after the dollar climbed above ¥163, its strongest level against the yen in 40 years. The dollar fell to about ¥155.20 after the intervention was announced.
