Median Strategies, which released polls showing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Francesca Hong (D-WI) ahead by wide margins, announced on Aug. 17 that it is shutting down and directed media outlets to discount its surveys, saying the numbers were fake and meant as a 'social experiment' in how easily false results spread. Its Wisconsin poll had Hong up by double digits in the Democratic gubernatorial primary; she lost.
