Four Democratic governors weigh early 2028 launches while Newsom campaigns in South Carolina

The timing question: run before the legislative session, or bank policy wins first.

Gavin Newsom is campaigning in South Carolina. He has not declared for 2028, and neither have Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Wes Moore of Maryland, JB Pritzker of Illinois or Andy Beshear of Kentucky.
