DiGenova quits five-month 'grand conspiracy' probe of Obama- and Biden-era officials with zero charges

NBC and Fox report DOJ and White House leaders had lost confidence and sidelined the 81-year-old before his Thursday exit, and no successor has been named.

• The inquiry has examined the 2017 intelligence assessment of Russian election interference and later investigations into Trump's classified documents and efforts to overturn the 2020 result, Reuters reports. These are subjects of the investigation, not findings of criminal wrongdoing by the officials under scrutiny.
• Grand jury subpoenas to former officials went out around his Thursday exit.
• His wife, attorney Victoria Toensing, is also leaving the department.
