The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared the nation's largest recorded cyclosporiasis outbreak over on Friday, Sept. 11, after reported infections fell sharply. Investigators traced it to processed iceberg lettuce distributed by Taylor Farms de Mexico, which recalled lettuce sourced from central Mexico. The outbreak hospitalized 570 people and killed two across 21 states. Where it stands. The CDC says the identified source no longer poses a risk because the best-by dates on the linked products have passed and the products are out of stores and restaurants. Federal and Mexican food safety regulators are still investigating how the parasite got into the lettuce.
