Cornyn, Abbott denounce Texas GOP nominee Bo French for calling Asian American students a problem
Bo French (R-TX) posted photos of South Asian students celebrating Texas's upset win over top-ranked Ohio State, writing Americans had been 'displaced by foreigners.'
The rebuke and the race:
- Cornyn and Abbott condemned the posts, as did House Speaker Dustin Burrows and state Reps. Lacey Hull and Jared Patterson.
- Attorney General Ken Paxton declined to condemn French and accused James Talarico (D-TX), his Democratic opponent, of racism instead.
- French, a former Tarrant County GOP chair, is the nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner, which regulates oil and gas. He faces Jon Rosenthal (St Rep-D Texas) in November.
