Tom Tiffany (Rep-R Wisconsin) and pilot escape sinking plane in Lake Wausau
Tiffany, the Trump-endorsed GOP nominee for Wisconsin governor, and pilot Leonard Boltz escaped after losing power on approach to Wausau airport just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 and were rescued by airboat at 9:05 p.m.
- Tiffany needed 12 stitches for a gash above his right eye and Boltz four; both were released from the hospital.
- He faces David Crowley (D-WI) for governor on Nov. 3, 2026.
- The FAA and NTSB are investigating the loss of power.
