[UPDATE] CDC counts only NCHS-listed measles deaths, showing zero for 2026
Pennsylvania has 3 measles-linked deaths and 693 cases as of Monday, Sept. 14, while the CDC — which switched its public tally to the narrower NCHS method on Sept. 4 — lists zero deaths for 2026. NCHS counts only deaths where a filed death certificate names measles as the underlying cause, a coding process that lags state reports by months.
PREVIOUSLY
On September 14, Pennsylvania reported its third measles-linked death of the year, an unvaccinated 40-year-old woman who died of probable complications.
