Democratic state parties will train 10,000 volunteers to monitor polls in 57 states and territories

Organizers aim to cover about a quarter of polling places in competitive districts, with volunteers in blue vests.

The program:

• Volunteers are trained to observe and report problems to election officials and party lawyers.
• Organizers describe the visible presence as a counter to intimidation at poll sites.
