[UPDATE] White House says pardon brokers waste money, Trump doesn't know them

Spokesperson Lauren Bis said Monday, Sept. 14 that reviews run through White House counsel, DOJ and pardon czar Alice Johnson. 60 Minutes had sent a convicted felon undercover to meet self-described pardon brokers, who offered to secure a Trump pardon for fees as high as $300,000. Paying an official for a pardon is bribery; charging a client to lobby for one is generally legal — the line the brokers worked.
