DHS admits in court filings its voter-citizenship screening may have flagged US citizens as noncitizens
People it matches are added to the TECS law enforcement watchlist.
DHS first told Nevada it had found 15,903 noncitizens on the state's voter rolls. After a manual review it cut that to a follow-up list of 185 names, and all 185 were later found to be US citizens.
What the filing says:
- DHS said Monday, Sept. 28, that 'potential inaccuracies were identified' in its voter-screening lists.
- People it matches are added to TECS, a law enforcement watchlist.
- DHS did not say what happens to citizens already on that list.
