Illinois 19-year-old charged with terrorist threat over alleged mass-shooting plot at Aurora Hindu temple
Police say they found a rifle, body armor and a manifesto targeting people of Indian descent
Prosecutors say Alexandros Paporakis of Palatine told a co-worker his gun jammed in the temple parking lot, and Raja Krishnamoorthi (Rep-D Illinois) says he and his family were worshiping there at the time.
What police found:
- Charges: making a terrorist threat and unlawful possession of a weapon; the rifle's barrel was under the 16-inch legal minimum (BBC).
- Seized: a rifle, loaded magazines, hundreds of rounds and body armor with a white-supremacist patch.
- Police believe the attack was planned for Oct. 11; Paporakis was arrested Sunday.
