Trump signed the proclamations Tuesday, Sept. 8, covering dairy products including whey, most alcoholic beverages, and motorcycles and mopeds, according to CBS News. He also directed federal agencies to bar Canadian products from long-term government procurement.

The bans follow Canada’s retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on hundreds of U.S. products, which took effect Tuesday, Sept. 8, in response to Trump’s August tariffs, according to Stateline. Canada’s tariff list covers C$27.6 billion in U.S. goods—roughly US$20 billion, the figure reported by PBS NewsHour.
