Trump repeated a slur on Monday, Oct. 19, at a Kansas rally for Roger Marshall (Sen-R Kansas). Shylock is the Jewish moneylender in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, and the name became a slur for Jews and money. He used the same slur in Iowa last year and later said he didn't know it was antisemitic. The ADL said on X the term is "rooted in a longstanding antisemitic stereotype." It didn't mention Trump.
