Military leaders told Hegseth prolonged Iran operations would leave the U.S. exposed elsewhere

Several senior military leaders formally objected to extending U.S. war operations against Iran, in a classified assessment to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. A long, large-scale war can't be sustained, they warned in the document, which The Washington Post described; it would leave the U.S. weaker against other threats, including at home. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell called publishing it a crime and said much of the reporting is wrong. He did not say which parts, and said such formal objections are normal and reach Hegseth all the time.
