Three fired Stars and Stripes journalists will keep suing the Pentagon after a judge refused to halt their dismissals. U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, ruled that publisher Max Lederer, editor-in-chief Erik Slavin and reporter Lara Korte spoke as public employees, not protected speech, when they gave pre-approved CBS interviews. Lederer says the three will fight on.

Aug. 11 — Stars and Stripes published a piece on conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. The Pentagon later fired the paper's publisher, editor-in-chief and a Middle East reporter after they discussed the paper on CBS.
Sep. 4 — Judge Trevor McFadden declined to block the firings. He found the three spoke as public employees.
