AfD is projected to take more than 40% in the Sept. 6 Saxony-Anhalt state election

Polls put Alternative for Germany above 40% in the eastern state before the Sept. 6 vote. A win would make it the first far-right party to take a German state election since 1945. Protesters marched against the party in the days before the ballot.
