[UPDATE] Judge makes her block on Trump's mail-voting order a preliminary injunction as North Carolina mails ballots
The administration will appeal to the 1st Circuit while its Supreme Court request is still pending.
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani barred the Postal Service from carrying out Trump's order restricting mail voting, turning her temporary order into a preliminary injunction. It came as North Carolina became the first state to mail 2026 general-election ballots. The administration said it will appeal to the 1st Circuit. It had already asked the Supreme Court to lift the earlier order.
