Pentagon polygraphed about 50 Joint Staff officers in August over leaks about depleted munitions; none failed

Investigators hooked roughly 50 members of the Joint Staff — senior officers, combatant commanders and civilian staff — to lie detectors in August 2026, hunting whoever told reporters that U.S. missile and interceptor stocks had been drawn down during the war with Iran. Officials say nobody failed the questions about talking to the press. Current and former officials call the scale unprecedented for the building. Caine, the nation's top-ranking officer, was not tested. (TS: Three sources told CNN the think-tank counts were close to the government's own internal numbers.) Still open. The Pentagon has given no reason for Caine's exclusion; spokesman Sean Parnell has said only that the department takes leaks seriously.

• Patriot interceptors left, per a CSIS estimate CNN published Jul. 29: fewer than 827
• THAAD interceptors left, per the same CSIS estimate: fewer than 278
• Army ATACMS and Precision Strike Missiles, per Reuters: 'virtually all' expended
