Trump donor Harold Hamm's Continental Resources signs deal to drill 126,000 acres in Venezuela

Continental signed a memorandum of understanding — a framework, not a final contract — with Venezuela's state-run oil company PDVSA on Wednesday, Sept. 16, to explore and produce in a 126,000-acre field Venezuela has never developed. The block is about 200 square miles. PDVSA remains under U.S. sanctions, so any drilling would need a license from Treasury's sanctions office. Hamm is among Trump's closest allies in the U.S. oil industry.
