Federal judge rules the law criminalizing noncitizen voting unconstitutional

U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz of the Southern District of Florida found 18 U.S.C. 611, the law that makes it a crime for noncitizens to vote, unconstitutional, Reuters and NBC News report. Reuters says the ruling applies only to the case of Florida resident Chelsea Cox and does not bind judges in other cases. The first reports do not say whether it will be appealed.
