Trump announces $6.6 billion Anduril shipyard in Baltimore to build Virginia-class submarine parts
Trump claimed a 40% taxpayer stake but did not say what it means; parts won't come until 2030.
The Sparrows Point site, called Arsenal-2, is funded by $3.7 billion in Anduril capital and up to $2.9 billion in Navy purchases, and Anduril says production will not begin until 2030.
- Wes Moore (Gov-D Maryland) stayed away, saying he was blocked from speaking; the White House said he was "throwing a tantrum."
- The Navy gets about 1.3 Virginia-class subs a year against a goal of 2; an official estimated the site adds about 15% capacity.
- The site covers more than 2 million square feet and is expected to bring about 3,000 to 3,100 direct jobs.
