[UPDATE] Defense firms backed by Trump's sons have won over $6 billion in federal contracts since they invested

Anduril says the government's 40% stake is in a new shipyard subsidiary, not the company itself.

Anduril has won 135 government contracts, worth about $1.8 billion, since 1789 Capital, the venture firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, invested in June 2025. The government's 40% stake is in Arsenal-2, a new shipyard subsidiary, not in Anduril. Its terms have not been disclosed.

On Oct. 7, Trump announced a $6.6 billion Anduril shipyard in Baltimore. It will build parts for Virginia-class submarines. Trump claimed a 40% taxpayer stake but did not say what it meant. The yard is meant to add Virginia-class production capacity. The first parts are not due until 2030.

Who pays for the $6.6B shipyard:

  • Navy share: $2.9 billion
  • Anduril's own investment: $3.7 billion
