[UPDATE] Zelensky says Ukraine will negotiate 'anywhere' and seeks a U.S.–Russia–Ukraine meeting at the G20
Neither Washington nor Moscow has confirmed the three-way meeting.
After Trump waived the Graham Act's Russia sanctions on Friday, Oct. 16, Zelensky said on Saturday, Oct. 17 that Ukraine will talk 'anywhere' and 'in any format' and that the U.S. signaled a U.S.–Ukraine meeting could come as soon as next week. He also hopes for a three-way meeting at the G20 summit in Miami in December (Ukraine is not a G20 member); neither the U.S. nor Russia has confirmed it, and Reuters says other venues are possible.
PREVIOUSLY
On Oct. 9, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were scheduled to meet Ukrainian representatives in Miami, per RFE/RL.
On the record:
- Zelensky on X: 'We're counting on them to put more pressure on Putin, not on us. Otherwise, it's simply unfair.'
- Reuters also reports the Miami G20 as the possible venue; The Hill and RBC-Ukraine report the possible meeting with U.S. envoys next week.
