Obama will campaign in Detroit on Oct. 24 for Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI)

The rally is on the first day of Michigan's statewide early voting.

Gubernatorial nominee Jocelyn Benson (D-MI) joins the rally for El-Sayed, a progressive who narrowly beat Haley Stevens (Rep-D Michigan) in the August primary.

Behind the rally:

  • Stevens won Wayne County, which includes Detroit, with about 51% to El-Sayed's roughly 45%.
  • AIPAC and allied groups spent $30 million against El-Sayed in the primary, per The Guardian.
  • Obama taped two dozen ads last week for Democratic Senate and governor candidates.
