Chris Murphy (Sen-D Connecticut) says Pentagon is hiding Iran war damage and a deal isn't imminent
After visiting Qatar and Saudi Arabia, he says the Pentagon barred him from Al Udeid air base.
Murphy said Iran's March drone strike on the US embassy in Riyadh did far more damage than was disclosed. He said it would have killed many Americans in daytime. After meeting Qatari mediators, he said a US-Iran deal "does not sound imminent." He said a deal would likely look like the failed June ceasefire.
What Murphy says he saw:
- Strikes on Qatar's Ras Laffan gas hub eliminated 17% of Qatar's exports, likely for about three years.
- He saw 1 LNG tanker in port at Ras Laffan, versus the usual 6.
