[UPDATE] Christa Pike leaves hospital, returns to Tennessee prison 10 days after surviving her execution

Tennessee has not said whether it will try to execute her again.

Pike, 50, is back at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, the women's prison that has held her for more than 30 years, and her lawyers said on Saturday, Oct. 10, that she will keep getting medical care there.

On Sept. 30, Tennessee tried to execute Christa Pike, and she survived two doses of pentobarbital. By Oct. 9 she could walk only with help, and her lawyers said her memory was impaired.

The record:

  • Pike was sentenced to death for the 1995 Knoxville murder of Colleen Slemmer.
  • She survived 2 doses of pentobarbital in the Sept. 30 attempt.
