Manhattan DA says Mangione's federal stalking plea doesn't bar his state murder trial
Prosecutors oppose Luigi Mangione's double-jeopardy motion to dismiss the state case over Brian Thompson's killing.
Prosecutors argue his Aug. 14 guilty plea to two federal stalking charges punishes a different "harm or evil" than murder, and that the dismissed federal weapons counts "do not constitute a separate prosecution."
- Oct. 30 — deadline for Mangione's defense to reply
