NATO commander Alexus Grynkewich says alliance is 'ready to fight tonight' if Russia attacks

The U.S. general also said he does not believe war with Russia is imminent or inevitable.

Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Grynkewich laid out a 'theory of victory': block any Russian attack, blunt the advance, and if needed 'break' the war-fighting system that supports and controls it.

Around the speech:

  • Grynkewich: 'We will, in short, ensure any attack, against any ally, proves utterly futile.'
  • European officials are warning of escalating Russian sabotage.
  • No new deployments came with it; the classified plan behind the speech was finalized about three months earlier, per Stars and Stripes.
