Four weapons experts who reviewed verified photos and video of the site at Kuhestak, in Sirik county near the Strait of Hormuz, told Reuters the damage points to a munition that detonated on or just above the roof of the house — a direct hit, not stray fragments. Trevor Ball, a former US Army ordnance disposal technician, identified debris consistent with a Joint Standoff Weapon, a US air-dropped glide bomb. The Iranian Red Crescent Society says five people were killed and 67 wounded in the strike on the night of Tuesday, Sept. 1. Asked about it Thursday, Sept. 3, Vice President JD Vance said he was "extremely skeptical" of the toll and did not think the US had "any information one way or the other."
